Gift Guide: Shopping Small and Local

As much as I love the sheer number of options I have to choose from when I’m shopping online from somewhere like Nordstrom or ASOS, there’s something to be said about shopping small and supporting a local business. Since I missed Small Business Saturday this year, I thought I’d share a gift guide highlighting three local businesses that I love!

Knotzland
Knotzland is a local company that makes sustainable, handmade bow ties. They use almost entirely reclaimed/discarded materials to create their bow ties, and they’re incredibly stylish, too! I serve on the Warhol Board with Nisha Blackwell, the Founder/CEO of Knotzland, and she is just so cool and creative. If no one on your list is a bow tie-wearer, keep them in mind for future events – they do custom orders, too!

Arbor House Soaps
Arbor House Soaps are handmade, delicious smelling hand soaps. They come in so many different scents; there’s really something for everyone. They make such a great host/hostess gift, or you can add in some lotion or bath bombs and make a really cute little bath-centered set. My aunt is actually the owner, so I can personally attest to how wonderful they smell!

Katie Koenig Art
I guess this post should really be called “I Know Some Awesome People,” because Katie is one of my very best friends. It’s been so crazy to watch her grow as an artist over the years – her work is really sunning! She’s doing some “mini masterpieces,” which I think make perfect holiday gifts. I’d love to have these little macarons and this cappuccino hanging in my house!
