Earlier this year, I shared that one of my goals for 2020 was to write and send more handwritten cards. I love getting mail – it feels so exciting and special, because it feels so personal! Sending an e-mail is easy, but there’s effort involved in writing and sending mail. And as much as I love receiving it, I was not great at sending it. I’ve decided that this is the year that changes!
Of course, I also decided that if I was going to write more cards, I needed the right materials. I have always had a slight obsession with pretty cards. I have a whole box filled with various thank you note designs, designs with the letter H on them… you get the idea. But I knew that if I wanted to make good on my goal, I’d need something to motivate me. And as silly as it seems, for me, pretty stationary seemed like the perfect motivator.
I knew that I wanted something personalized, and also something that wasn’t too expensive. After a lot of Googling, I came across Papier. They have some really cute designs, and once I found this gold outline of a tiger, I knew that I was done searching. I love how they turned out – it’s simple and clean, but still something special.
I took this even a step further – I decided that if I was going in, I was going to go all in. What good is personalized stationary without a nice pen?! I did some more research, and found out that this pen from Baronfig was the highest rated pen by New York Magazine’s The Strategist, which sounded like a good endorsement to me! It writes really nicely, and I like that you can buy replacement ink cartridges for the pen once it runs out.
I’ve already written a card to a friend congratulating her on her new job, and I have a few more cards planned out! It’s actually been really fun for me to write and send the cards, too – it feels like I’m sending such a fun surprise.
