Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! My big, exciting news from the past week is that I started Evrysdi, the treatment for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the disease that I have. I’ll have an entire post about it next week where I’ll share more, but it’s so huge that I didn’t want to wait any longer to share the news! (If you follow me on Instagram, you might’ve already seen my post about it there.) So that’s basically been the biggest thing on my mind over the past week.

We also booked a summer vacation this week. I’m so grateful to be vaccinated, and really looking forward to (safely!) traveling again. So basically, lots of happy things happening/on the horizon.

With that being said, on to the favorites from this week.

Disability Pen Pal Program from EmpowHer Network

I am in love with this idea – EmpowHer Network set up a pen pal program for disabled girls to be connected with disabled women mentors. I was lucky growing up that my sister also had SMA – because otherwise, no matter how amazing your friends and family are, there’s not necessarily anyone in your life that fully gets what you’re going through. Being able to talk to someone else who has been there is so empowering, and I’m so glad that this program exists (and love that Teen Vogue is covering it, too!).

“How Well Do You Know…” In the Heights Version

It’s no secret that I am very excited for the In the Heights movie coming out this summer! This is a really fun interview/contest between Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jon Chu, the director. Now I will be singing “If I win the lottery…” in my head for the next three days.

V-Neck Sweatshirt Tee

This top from Madewell is the perfect short sleeved sweatshirt/t-shirt combination. It’s super relaxed and comfy, and is a little warmer than a regular t-shirt without feeling too heavy. I love the boxy fit of it, too. I added it to my cart at the last minute – a definite impulse buy – and have no regrets at all.

John Oliver on Long-Term Care

I love when John Oliver does a deep dive on topics, and this segment is no different. I feel like I should disclaim that he is brutally honest about the state of long-term care (it is not great!). It’s not a topic area that most people spend a lot of time thinking about, but I think it’s really important to learn about.

Fenty Beauty Skin Tint

The first of my Sephora Sale orders came in (from this post), and I think I’m a fan of the skin tint from Fenty Beauty! I’ve only had a few chances to try it out so far, but it’s a really nice, lightweight coverage – even lighter than a tinted moisturizer – that’s super easy to apply. Some of the shades are already sold out, as a heads up if you’re interested!
