Spring Bucket List

I am seriously in such a springtime mood lately. The sun and the warmer temperatures are making me so happy and so hopeful, too – it feels like better days are just around the corner. It’s all making me want to go out and (safely, of course) start to venture into the world and do things again. So I came up with a spring bucket list of all the things that I want to do this season!

Heather, a white woman in a wheelchair, is siting on her deck with a Starbucks cup resting on the table/in her hands. She's wearing a white, flowy top and is smiling at the camera.

Outdoor Coffee Date

There’s really nothing I like more than catching up with friends over a cappuccino! There are so many great coffee shops in Pittsburgh, and I definitely want to make it to a few this spring! Some of my local favorites are Redhawk, De Fer, and Commonplace, and I can’t to visit them again.

Visit Phipps

Phipps just seems like the perfect springtime activity – there’s nothing more spring-like than flowers and other greenery! It’s such a relaxing and beautiful way to spend an afternoon, and I want to make it a point to visit.

Go Out for Ice Cream

Going out for ice cream brings back all the memories of summer evenings with friends in high school. One of my favorite local ice cream shops, Sugar and Spice, makes grasshopper ice cream – mint with Oreos! So good, and deserves a spot on my list.

Patio Dine Somewhere

I really miss going out to eat at restaurants, and even before the pandemic, dining outdoors was always my favorite! My fingers are crossed that restaurants are going to keep their outdoor dining open even after pandemic restrictions have gone away. I have a few places at the top of my list, I’m just waiting for it to get a tiny bit warmer out.

Take a Short Trip

I guess including this is cheating a little bit, because I do have a short trip planned already for later in the spring – nothing far or extravagant, but I’m just looking forward to getting away and going to a different city!

Host a Backyard Bonfire

Bringing back a fall favorite! Backyard bonfires are my favorite things all year, and year, and I’m very much looking forward to s’mores and mountain pies. Yum!

Tea at The Frick

The Frick has the best little cafe, but it’s so small that it’s been (understandably) closed with the capacity restrictions. They have a great outdoor space, though, and serve the best tea service, complete with tea sandwiches and scones and clotted cream. It’s equal parts fun and delicious.

Visit the Museum

My friend’s son is two and a half and VERY into dinosaurs right now. We’ve been talking about taking a trip to the Natural History museum here so that he can see all the fossils. I’m not a huge dino person, but it’ll be fun to see him enjoy it!

Host an Outdoor Movie Night

Another favorite from the fall! Backyard projector movies were maybe my favorite thing that I “discovered” last summer – I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been doing this longer! At the end of the summer I bought a huge projector screen that’s on a stand (and doesn’t have to be hung on the wall) and I can’t wait to break it out this year!

Make sure you let me know what’s on your spring bucket list!
