Simple White Sundress

I have been having some fun lately getting dressed up and going out again! I’m still mostly at home, but when I do go out, picking out a cute outfit and “getting dressed” is something that I’ve been loving. I’ve especially been into cute dresses – it feels like the perfect combination of the comfort of lounge outfits but with the cuteness of a great outfit.

Heather, a white woman in a wheelchair, is on her porch wearing a white pleated maxi/midi dress from J.Crew.

When I saw this J.Crew sundress, I knew immediately that this would be the perfect casual but chic sundress! It’s fairly simple and classic, which is totally my style – it just feels so easy for summer. But there are some great extra details too – the pleating down the skirt, the smocking under the chest, and the little tie at the neckline.

And it comes in white! I didn’t actually own at white sundresses before this one, which I kind of can’t believe – there’s nothing more chic than a crisp white sundress. This one isn’t lined, actually, but it’s surprisingly opaque, which I loved. When it’s 75 degrees out, sometimes two layers just feels like too much for the summer heat. And if you’re not a white dress person, there’s also a dusty rose and a black option too.

I was also so impressed with the fit. I’m wearing a 00 and it fit basically perfectly. Of course, on me, what should be midi length because maxi, but I actually liked that. The shoulder straps are adjustable, and even though I have a super short torso because of my spinal fusion surgery in middle school, the straps were able to adjust enough to make the dress fit correctly! It sounds so simple, but I’m always so pleasantly surprised when something fits without me having to make any major adjustments to it!

I wore this dress out to dinner (my first time in a restaurant since before the pandemic!), but it would work equally well during the day. It’s so simple that you could dress it down with a jean jacket and a pair of sneakers, or make it a little bit dressier with a wrap and a pair of espadrilles. I can’t wait to wear this on my next #DisabledGirlSummer adventure!

Bonus – this dress is an extra 15% off through the end of the day with code EXTRA!
