I looked at the calendar this week and could NOT believe that it was mid-June. How did that happen?! After writing yesterday’s post, I’m hoping to keep it pretty low-key this weekend. I am hoping for sleep, and reading in the sunshine, and maybe dinner on the grill on Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day… nothing too busy.

The work on the patio is coming along so quickly, and it’s so much fun to watch. I’m getting so excited to be able to use it soon – I’m hoping to have our first outdoor movie night on the new patio! It’s definitely been a highlight of my week.
And now, on to this week’s favorites.
Shane Burcaw’s Broken Wheelchair
I guess calling this a favorite is really a misnomer, because it’s far from positive, but it is really important. Shane Burcaw and his wife Hannah share a video about a recent disaster of a flight, where his wheelchair wouldn’t turn on when they landed and they had to wait for hours in the airport to try to get it repaired. They actually ended up getting a phone call from a wheelchair vendor at the conference they were speaking at, who was able to walk Hannah through the repair on the phone. It’s hard to overstate how absolutely terrifying it is to fly when you use a wheelchair – to hand your chair over to strangers and not know if it’ll still be working when you get it back after the plane lands. I wrote a post about this a few years ago. We need change – I should be able to take my wheelchair onto the plane!
Stila Lip Gloss
And now something much more light – this Stila lip gloss! It reminds me of the lip glosses that I used it middle school; you twist the applicator until the gloss makes it’s way into the brush. I showed it to my sister and she instantly had the same memories! I’m definitely going to have to pick up a color or two for old time’s sake.
Shane West on A Walk to Remember
A Walk to Remember is one of my absolute favorite movies – I’ve watched it so many times, I was obsessed with the soundrack, even read the book. Of course, I also had a huge crush on Shane West. I loooove this interview where he talks about his time while filming… and I’m probably going to re-watch (again) over the weekend!
Packable Sun Hat
I can count the number of times in my life that I’ve worn a hat on one hand. But I don’t know… part of me just is really into this sun hat! I can imagine myself lounging by the pool, hat on, reading, frozen drink in hand. Am I becoming a hat person now??
Disabled Activist Imani Barbarin
If you’re not already following Imani, you should be – she is an incredible disabled activist! I love this interview of her by Keah Brown. Her comments on identity are really insightful, and anyone who references Mary Kate and Ashley / Holiday in the Sun is someone I want to be friends with!
