Wow – what a week it has been. I don’t get sappy on here very often, but I have just been SO touched by the number of people who have followed along, supported, and engaged with me! It can be hard for me to know if I’m striking the right balance between disability content and style/beauty/lifestyle content – I genuinely enjoy writing about all of them. And the fact that everyone has been equally eager to hear more about accessibility as they are to know my favorite Nap Dress patterns just means so much to me. It makes me feel so seen, and I’ve basically been smiling non-stop all week. I really, really, really appreciate it.

Okay, whew! Now on to this week’s favorites.
Simone Biles Protects her Mental Health
Simone Biles’ decision to pull out of Olympic events to protect her mental health is such a strong and brave one. I can’t imagine what a difficult, heart-wrenching decision that must have been. I thought that this New Yorker article covered the issue really well.
Books to Celebrate Disability Pride
A family friend passed this along to me and I love it! The New York Public Library put together an amazing list of books by disabled authors to celebrate Disability Pride Month! I have read a few of these, but am definitely adding more of them to my “to be read” list.
This showed up for me as a Facebook sponsored ad and I could not resist. I’ll keep you posted once it arrives, but I’m very hopeful – I love how loose and floaty it is, and the blue color is so pretty! It says it’s midi length, but based on the pictures, I think that I’d call it a maxi really.
ADA Celebration at the White House
This past week was the 31st “anniversary” of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Lots of disabled people, myself included, have complicated feelings about the ADA. I’m so, so grateful it exists… but I feel like we still have a loooot of work to do until the world is truly accessible. Regardless – it’s still exciting to see it recognized at the federal level. The White House invited a ton of amazing disability advocates to celebrate the day together, and they issued this proclamation.
Lorde’s Melodrama album is one of my absolute favorites, and I love a good 73 Questions video! It’s always fun to hear a little snippet of the behind-the-scenes of a celebrity’s life.
