Friday Favorites

This week has felt like a bit of a whirlwind. Between work, and the blog, and other things that I’m working on, it’s been a very busy week, and next week looks like it’ll be much of the same. I’m hoping I can split the weekend between taking some time to relax and being able to use the time to get some work done.

I did have a really fun opportunity this week – I got to film a little something about my advocacy work for a local project. I’m not sure when the final project will be live, but I’ll be sure to share it when it is! In the meantime, enjoy this behind-the-scenes shot of the filming!

And now, on to this week’s favorites.

“The Book Blob” Cover Trend

It’s funny to see these covers all next to each other, because I’ve read a lot of these books and didn’t ever think of how similar the covers looked! I don’t hate the trend, but I do agree that sometimes it would be nice to see something less generic and a little more specific to the actual context of the book.

J.Crew Holiday Collection

J.Crew has released their holiday collection, and there are so many cute and festive things! I especially love this puff-sleeve plaid dress, this sequin midi skirt, and this puff-sleeve velvet dress.

COVID Vaccine Approved for Kids

I know that many parents of young kids in my life are excited that the COVID vaccine has been approved for kids 5 to 12 years old! Here’s hoping that the roll out goes smoothly and that it helps keep kids – and the larger community – safe and healthy.

Sephora Holiday Sale

I’ll have a post up on Tuesday with more of my Sephora Sale picks, when it opens to VIB members. But if you’re at the Rouge level, you can shop it today! They have some great gift sets (that tend to sell out quickly) – this mini candle one looks really nice, I love Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk line, and this Paula’s Choice set looks amazing.

COP26 Summit Inaccessibility

It was frustrating, but not surprising, to read about the inaccessibility that the Israeli minister faced when trying to enter the COP26 Summit. It’s not that the venue itself wasn’t accessible, but that the shuttle wasn’t, and she wasn’t permitted to take her own (accessible) vehicle up to the entrance. Oversights like this happen all the time, especially when you don’t have disabled people involved in the planning of the event. Hopefully, this makes people think twice about all accessibility concerns in the future.
