Full disclosure – I’m writing this post a little bit early, because I’m now wrapping up a trip to New York! So this post is going to be a little bit shorter than usual, both because I spent time off my computer here, and because I laid pretty low while I was preparing for this trip. But here’s what I’ve been up to over the last month-ish.

At the end of October, I went back to my first show since before the pandemic! I have a post about it, but honestly, it was just so, so exciting to be back. I saw The Band’s Visit, and to be honest, it wasn’t my favorite show ever – but just being back in the theater and listening to live music made it more than worth it, you know?

We also celebrated Halloween! To be honest, I’m not really much of a Halloween person, but I do enjoy getting Lily a costume each year. She can be particular about her costumes and clothes – she refuses to wear anything on her head, or else she goes statue-still until you take it off. So this year she was a butterfly, and it was fun to watch her wings flap as she ran around the yard!

And I also went into the photo book archives and dug up this picture of me as a renaissance princess. My mom always made my Halloween costumes growing up, and it’s so funny to look back on now, because I wanted a store bought costume so badly… but they are often cheap and mass-produced! My “homemade” costume is definitely nicer. I also can’t stop laughing at my blue eyeshadow – clearly, the height of fashion! And the tiara is from Claire’s, and I’m almost positive that I actually bought it well before the costume was even a thought, ha!

Last year, I was involved in an advocacy training program for people with disabilities. Recently, the woman who started and ran the program reached out to a few of us about filming short discussions about our advocacy work, so of course I said yes. It was really fun, and I felt so legit – their setup went all out! I don’t have any more information on the filming right now, but I’ll share more information when I have it!

And finally, to end on a lighthearted note – the holiday cups are back at Starbucks! I actually don’t usually change my order (a five shot, extra dry, nonfat cappuccino), but every so often when I want a treat I’ll order a delicious caramel brûlée latte. Yum!
