Friday Favorites

Happy, happy Friday! Somehow, this is already the last Friday in March – it feels like the month has flown by, to me! We still have a few days left, I know, but it feels like this month has been a whirlwind. This was an especially exciting week for me – I got to see Ali Stroker, the first woman in a wheelchair to win a Tony Award, perform at the Cabaret downtown, and was even lucky enough to get to chat with her after her show. It was such an incredible experience, and I’m sure I’ll share more in another post, but it honestly just put me in such a great mood. Like I said on Instagram, it was a real “pinch-me” moment, and I still am a little bit in shock that it was real.

With that being said, on to the favorites!

My Humanities Festival Talk

Just a reminder that my session at the Cultural Trust’s Pittsburgh Humanities Festival is this Sunday at 3 PM at the Trust Arts Education Center. If you’re in Pittsburgh and free on Sunday, I would really, really love for you to come. I’m currently equally excited and terrified, and it would be so great to see smiling (… under masks) faces in the audience! Tickets are only $10, or $5 for students.

Postmodern Jukebox Covers Olivia Rodrigo

This cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s Happier was recommended to me by YouTube, and I’m so glad that the algorithm threw it my way! I love the original song, of course, but this is a really fun, 60s-style re-imagining of it. Definitely give it a listen.

Pink Striped Smocked Dress

I’m not always the biggest fan of pink, but this dress caught my eye and I just think it’s so cute. The stripes, the smocking, the ruffles, the flutter sleeves – they all work together perfectly and the dress just looks fun!

Kristin Chenowith on Fear

WOW, this excerpt from an essay by Kristin Chenowith is powerful! She’s finally speaking out about an injury that she got on-set while filming The Good Wife, and what her life has been like since then. And while most of us can’t relate to that specific experience, I bet that a lot of us can relate to the realizations that she came to afterwards. Definitely, definitely read this.

Straw Bag

I shared some cute dresses from Target yesterday, but I couldn’t not share this perfect straw bag. I love the oval shape and the faux leather detail on the handle. I can’t say for sure without seeing it in person, but online at least it looks way nicer than I’d think a $30 bag would!
