Spring and summer are, by far, my favorite seasons to shop for. Sometimes I really wonder why I live in Pittsburgh – I’d be really content getting to wear light, flowy sundresses all year long. And this pinky-peach dress from J.Crew is a new favorite in my collection.

I’m not always a floral person (it has to be the right kind of floral), but the minute I saw the pattern on this dress, I just fell in love with it. It’s so pretty and detailed – floral, but with enough swirls to make it a little abstract and a little bit sophisticated. It’s a Liberty print (of course!) and it just looks so rich and intricate in person – it’s not embroidered, but it almost looks like it is. And the colors just work together so nicely – it’s the epitome of spring and summer in print form.
The cut and style of the dress is also perfect for me. The shoulder straps are adjustable – and even I, whose torso hasn’t grown longer since my spinal fusion surgery in middle school, didn’t have to tighten them all the way, which means there’s LOTS of adjustability to them. And it has a tie in the back, which is one of my favorite features in a dress! It makes it super adjustable and easy to get just the right fit. I was able to make it tight enough that it felt secure, but not so tight that I felt suffocated. On me, it’s a maxi length, because I’m so short (and sitting); I think it’d be a perfect midi length on most people.
And because the dress is 100% cotton, it’s so nice and lightweight and breathable! It hit the 80s here last week, and I didn’t feel like I was too hot at all wearing this. Plus!! It’s machine washable. That’s so key in summer dresses I think – in the summer, you can’t really get multiple wears between washes; things just get too hot and sticky. So I want dresses that are easy to wash and wear, and this is definitely that. Just a great, easy, breezy dress.
To really get the full spring and summer vibes, I paired the dress with a mini raffia tote (mine is old but this one is similar), and the very cute and comfy cap-toe sacchetto Sarah Flint flats. You can use SARAHFLINT-BAHEATHERREPORT for $50 off your first pair!
