You know how sometimes, something just catches your attention? It might not be anything especially fancy or detailed, but there’s just something about it that you love? That’s how I feel about this chic black dress.
I have been coveting this dress for over a year now, but I just wasn’t quite ready to make the purchase. I was searching for it earlier this week, though, to check on it again, and happened upon it on Nordstrom Rack, for about half the price! I added to cart and checked out so quickly, and almost audibly squealed when it arrived. I love it so much.
You know that scene in Clueless, where Cher talks about needing her “most capable outfit” to take her driver’s permit test? Maybe it’s just me, ha! But that’s what this outfit makes me feel like, in a way – confident and chic and ready to conquer the world. I don’t know exactly what it is about it – I think just a bunch of small details that add up to perfection.
First – the material is the best jersey knit I’ve ever felt. It’s thicker than I thought it might be, but in a good way – it feels substantial rather than the thin, cheap jersey I sometimes find. And because it’s a knit, it’s nice and stretchy, which is ideal for me. Things that have a little bit of stretch to them always end up looking better on me while seated – and honestly, it’s just so comfortable! Plus, it wasn’t wrinkled at all when it arrived, even after being folded and crumpled in the bag while shipping.
I love how simple and chic the dress is, with just the smallest detail of the little notched v-wire in the front to give it a little something extra. It’s kind of the perfect, versatile dress – it would look cute with my favorite Sarah Flint Natalie flats (use SARAHFLINT-BAHEATHERREPORT for $50 off!) like I have it here, dressed down with a jean jacket and pair of sneakers like these, or dressed up with some heels and a fancy bag. Honestly, I love it so much that I’m seeing if the white option is on sale anywhere, because I want it in both colors!
