When I saw that Hill House was coming out with a line of sweaters and sweater dresses, I was really interested. I love being cozy in the fall, but I wasn’t sure how things would fit, since sweaters don’t come with smocking! Since I love a sweater dress, I decided to order the Sylvie, and I’m really impressed! The sweater dress still has the same great fit and comfort for me, and it’s perfect for the fall.

When I’m wearing a sweater dress, I’m wearing it because I want to be warm and cozy while still looking cute. I don’t want something that’s too tight and restricting. So for me, the Sylvie sweater dress has the perfect fit. It’s definitely on the looser side, but it’s not baggy – just slightly oversized. I also love the little pintuck gathering it has in the back – it helps the dress flow out in just a slight a-line cut. The shape of the sleeves are a really fun detail – they’re the barest of balloon sleeves, but if you cuff the bottom, it makes it even more subtle. It gives you options!
It’s not a long dress – for me, it comes to right about my knees while I’m sitting, so I’m guessing it would hit above the knee for most people. I’m wearing it with my favorite Sarah Flint flats here (don’t forget to use SARAHFLINT-BAHEATHERREPORT for $50 off your first pair!), but it would look so cute with boots or booties when it gets chillier, too. And it would definitely work with tights! It’s a perfect transition piece because it will work for so many different seasons.
And of course, the other important part is how actually cozy it is. The dress is made of wool, which can go either way – sometimes it’s super soft and the best, but there’s nothing worse than wearing itchy wool all day. I’m happy to report that this wool definitely falls on the soft and comfy end of the comfy-itchy spectrum! There was no itch at all, and it was soft and warm without being too hot and heavy. I love the navy, but there’s a really cute cream option, too.
Overall, I’m really impressed – the Sylvie is a great addition to my sweater dress collection!
