It’s been a relatively mild summer here so far, but we’ve had a few days recently that were super bright and sunny and hot – the kind of days where sunscreen is an absolute necessity. Since I’ve tried out a ton over the years – I’m pretty picky about ingredients and making sure the sunscreen actually works – I thought I’d share some of my favorites.
This is just a great basic sunscreen. It works for your body or your face, and you can buy it in different sizes. It feels really nice and silky going on, but dries down to a natural finish. It’s not matte, but it’s not dewy, either. I also love that it’s SPF 50 – I burn really easily, so I like a high level of protection!
I started using this maybe a year ago for my face, and it’s quickly become my go-to. I use it every day as my regular moisturizer. It’s not too thick – hence the “watery” in the name, I guess – and it applies so nicely, both on it’s own and under makeup. This is an especially great choice if you have oilier skin! The only drawback is that this can be hard to find – I order from Stylevana frequently, but it can take a while to arrive.
This is a drugstore basic that I’ve been using for years! Neutrogena is my favorite drugstore brand – it never breaks me out or clogs my pores, and you can find it anywhere. This is another one that I use both on my face and body with no issues. It doesn’t quite have the same silky-smooth feel that some of the other ones do, but it works and is super affordable.
I’m super picky about my spray sunscreens – I don’t like them to have alcohol, and most of the aerosol ones do. This one, from La Roche Posay, doesn’t! It sprays on pretty nicely – you do have to rub it in a little bit after spraying, but it’s minimal. It’s not too oily or greasy of a finish, either. I love how easy and quick it is to apply.
This is another great moisturizer / sunscreen combination for everyday use on your face. It’s a mineral sunscreen, rather than chemical, if that’s your preference! It goes on really smoothly, and also works nicely on it’s own or under makeup. This is probably one of the most frequently recommended facial sunscreens that I’ve seen over the last few years.
This is another great alcohol free spray sunscreen! This one sprays on clear – again, you do have to rub it in, but it’s super silky and easy to spread. It has more of a moisturizing finish than the La Roche Posay, so if you have drier skin this would be a great option. It’s offered in both SPF 30 and 40.
