Fall Things I’m Looking Forward To

I have written (too many!) times now about how I’m really not ready for summer to end. But I do live in reality and know that it’s going to happen, and fall is on it’s way, whether I like it or not. So I’m trying to reframe it in my mind, and think about fall things that I’m looking forward to, and am excited about. I thought I’d share them here to help remind myself!

More Patio Bonfires

I also love a spring bonfire, but there’s something so satisfying about one in the fall – when the days are warm but the nights are chilly enough that you want to be near the fire for warmth. They’re just the perfect, chill way to spend a fall evening and I look forward to them a lot. Catching up with friends around the fire while snacking on mountain pies and s’mores is my ideal.

Reading Under a Blanket

I love warm weather, but I also love being cozy. As much as I love reading out on the patio in the summer, I also love snuggling up inside, under a blanket, spending an entire weekend day sipping coffee and reading. It just feels so relaxing! In the summer, I always feel like I really want to soak up all the outside time I can, but chillier temperatures give me an excuse to lean into the cozy.

Warm Drinks on Cool Days

I am very much a hot coffee year round person, but it just hits differently when it’s cooler out. Wrapping your hands around the cup to stay warm, the hot drink juxtaposed with the chilly air… there’s just something about it that’s so satisfying. One of those small joys to look forward to.

Cozy Sweaters

Okay, I know that “sweater weather” has become a little bit of an internet joke now, but I do genuinely love my cozy sweaters! And sometimes an outfit that you haven’t been able to wear for a while does actually make me happy and brighten my day a little bit. It might be superficial, but the happiness is real.

All the Fall Meals

I love meals like short ribs, beef bourginion, and coq au vin… but they all require a lot of time on the stovetop or in the oven, which can make the kitchen (and eventually, the whole house!) super hot. So making them on cooler days – and making the whole house smell absolutely delicious in the process – is absolutely something I’m excited about.

What fall things are you looking forward to? Let me know!
