I keep thinking how I can’t believe it’s October, but some of the favorites from September feel like they happened SO long ago! It was a really full month, with a few more favorites than usual.

Moulin Rouge The Musical
If you have a chance to see Moulin Rouge, either on Broadway or on tour, I highly recommend! It’s such a fun show – they’ve taken the story from the movie but updated it with mashups of pop hits from like 1980s until now, while still keeping the “classics” from the movie, too. It was just so much fun, and high energy – it felt electric to see it live!
Fenty Beauty Poutsicle
A few of my friends were raving about the Fenty Poutsicle lip stain, so I decided to try it out too, and it’s great! You apply it like a gloss, leave it on for a minute or two, and then wipe off the excess. You’re left with a really nice stain on your lips – not too bold, but still noticeable. It’s not totally food / drink proof, but it does fade nicely even after a few hours.
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
I loved Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, so I wanted to read this, too, and I really liked it! The content is different, but the writing style is really beautiful. And I loved that, at it’s core, it’s a story about the power of books and stories themselves, and how they can bring people together.
Family House Polo Match
The chance to dress up like I’m attending Royal Ascot and support an amazing local organization at the same time? Yes please! Family House’s Polo Match is one of my favorite events all year long – the polo, the horses, the dressing up, the shopping booths – and, of course, the organization itself. They provide support and a place to stay for families with someone hospitalized, and that’s such a needed resource.
Floral Puff Sleeve Dress
And this dress that I wore to the Polo Match is another favorite of the month, too! I feel like the colors in the floral print make it seem appropriate for fall, and I feel like it looks even nicer on than it does on the website! It’s also under $100, but feels a lot more luxe in my opinion.
USB Rechargeable Desk Lamp
I love everything about this little lamp I picked up when I redid my desk earlier this month! It’s such a fun modern style, and a pretty translucent blue. But the best part is that it’s USB rechargeable, and touch to turn on/off. It doesn’t need to be near an outlet, and you can move it around to different places because it’s so lightweight. And the touch option means I can turn it on and off by myself!
Hotel Lobby Candle in Aspen
Hotel Lobby’s newest candle is the perfect fall and winter scent. I’m so impressed with the scent they managed to create – it has that fir tree scent, but mixed with a smoky smell, too. It really does smell like you’re at a fancy hotel, sitting by the fire. I’ll be burning this well into the year, through fall and winter. I can’t get enough.
Milkbar Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake (and my birthday!)
I ordered this cake for my birthday, and wow, I wish I could order this every month! It’s a red velvet cake with layers of “liquid cheesecake” filling, and it’s the best cake I’ve ever had. It was the absolute perfect thing to eat to celebrate my 35th birthday! I got to eat it surrounded by friends and family, which is truly the best gift of all.
The Barbie Movie
Finally, after months of waiting, I was able to watch Barbie! I was a huge Barbie girl – our playroom was called “the Barbie room” growing up – so I had high expectations, and it didn’t disappoint. I loved how the movie covered both doll world and the real world, I loved the iconic styles, and of course, the singing and dancing. Everyone should watch this!
