Today is the first post of my 2023 recaps – I have a few more planned over the next week or two. It’s fun to look back over the year and share some of my favorite things, and your favorite things as well. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite purchases over the past year. I tried to limit it to things that are still in stock – I’m sure I forgot a thing or two, but these are the ones that stick out the most.
It sounds dramatic, but the Shark FlexStyle has kind of revolutionized the way I do my hair. It’s so much easier to get a curly, bouncy blowout look – and so much faster – than it ever was in the past. I love how many different looks I can get out of the tool, how lightweight it is (hugely important to me!) and how simple it is to use.
This isn’t technically Eras Tour merch, but it still reminds me of the tour nonetheless. I love that it’s subtly Taylor inspired, but still general enough that it fits in nicely with the rest of my decor. Plus, every time I look at it I think about the amazing time I had at the concert, and it just makes me happy.
I got this at the very beginning of 2023, and wore it so many times last year! It’s a tiny book shaped locket, but inside is a a tiny folded up piece of paper that you can get inscribed with anything you want – I chose a quote from a book. You can also get the front engraved with your initial or another symbol! It’s one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.
I always want to be a lipstick person, but I know at my core I’m really a lip gloss person – something that goes on easily with very little upkeep. And I love the look of a shiny gloss, too! This Rare Beauty lip oil feels so nice and moisturizing on, can be applied without a mirror, and leaves you with the perfect wash of color and shine.
I’m actually wearing these and listening to an audiobook right now while I write this post! I just love how seamlessly them work and switch between all my Apple devices (phone, iPad, laptop), and the “auto on” feature means I don’t have to worry about reaching an on/off button every time I wear them.
I think this dress is almost sold out now, at least in black, but it’s so stunning that I had to include it. It’s one of those dresses that looks even better in person than it does online. I just felt so good wearing it – it’s one of those rare dresses that is both gorgeous and incredibly comfortable and easy to wear. I am obsessed.
I really leaned into the book-related accessories in 2023! This book crossbody is such a fun pop of whimsy to add to any outfit. I went with Anne of Green Gables because it’s one of my all-time favorite books, but there are so many other books covers available, too. It’s functional and cute!
I have oily skin, so finding a foundation can be tricky – anything “dewy” is often too much for me! The Fenty foundation is super lightweight and blendable, and has a nice, natural finish. It’s really easy to make it sheer or a little more full coverage based on whatever look you’re going for, and I love how many shade options there are.
When I want to add a little bit of oomph to my brow look, I start with this felt-tipped brow pen. It’s actually the first brow pen I’ve ever used, and I’m so grateful that it’s basically foolproof. You just draw on little brow hairs to mix in with your own, but it blends in so well and doesn’t make me look too overdone.
I bought this ring for myself as a Christmas present after wanting it for almost a full year. It’s more of a statement ring than I’m used to wearing, but I actually really love the look of it mixed with my other daintier rings. I’ve always loved celestial-inspired things, so the stars and infinity sign symbolism is perfect for me.
I shared these in my December 2023 favorites post last week, but I love them enough to include them here too. The gummies taste delicious and basically melt in your mouth (I sometimes struggle to chew gummies if they’re too… chewy). Plus, with the mix of CBD and THC, I feel so relaxed (both mentally and physically) and have the best sleep when I take them before bed.
I tend to take a pretty low-key approach to my brows for daily wear – I just slick on a little bit of this tinted brow gel. It adds just enough color and definition that my brows look subtly bolder, but still natural. It’s incredibly easy to apply and lasts all day on me, no problem.
Finally, ending the list on a lighthearted note! My ACOTAR obsession is no secret. This little (it really is TINY) ACOTAR-inspired dresser sits on my desk, and it just makes me happy every time I look at it. I’ve always loved miniatures, so for me, an ACOTAR miniature is just about perfect.
