When it comes to lip products – and, honestly, makeup in general – I tend to go for products that are easy to apply and hard to mess up. I love things that wear off evenly, so I don’t look super patchy once it starts to wear off, and it’s definitely a bonus if I can put it on without having to even look at a mirror! So I thought I’d share some of my current go-to lip products that I’ve been wearing lately.
I keep this Inkey List Balm by my desk so I can put it on during the day – it’s just a nice, clear balm. My lips can get pretty dry in the winter – I’m always cold, so I have space heaters running constantly – and I just need something simple to keep them moisturized so they don’t crack. This goes on nicely, it adds moisture but isn’t sticky, and leaves my lips feeling nice and smooth even hours after I’ve applied it.
The Rare Beauty Lip Oil goes on glossy, but dries down the nicest, most subtle tint that wears off so nicely and evenly. It’s so easy to apply – it’s pretty foolproof, I don’t even need a mirror when I’m putting it on. You can’t really use too much product since it’s so subtle. I have two or three different shades and probably am going to pick up a few more! I also appreciate how easy these are for me to open! It’s nice to be able to put it on independently.
The Fenty Poutsicle is a really unique product! You apply it, leave it on for about two minutes, wipe off the excess, and are left with a really nice stain that tints your lip and lasts nicely. I’ve actually also worn it without wiping off after two minutes, and it still looks great, but it’s more of a bolder look. This also twists open, so I can open and apply it myself.
I kept seeing people rave about this Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip (both the balm and the plump), so I decided to check it out, and it lives up to the hype! It’s a balm consistency, but it’s super soft – you do not need to press hard at all while you apply, it really just glides right on. The finish is absolutely gorgeous, it’s so glossy and shiny, especially the shades that have a little metallic shimmer to them. The only con for me is that I can’t open it myself, and you have to click the products up from the bottom, which I struggle with sometimes.
This Nars Lip Balm is a staple for me – I’ve probably been using them for five years now! I have it in a few shades, and I love that it’s truly a no fuss product. It’s the perfect lightly tinted balm – it adds a little wash of color, definitely can be applied without a mirror, and is super easy to wear and reapply throughout the day. Plus, since it’s a balm, it’s nice and moisturizing, too.
