Fun Flats

I’ve been a flats person for years, which sometimes makes it tricky to find trendy shoes. My ankles are super weak, and if I wear a heal any higher than about an inch, my ankles just kind of… bend inwards. It’s not super comfortable, and doesn’t look great either! So flats are the way to go for me, but when I want something that makes a little more of a statement, or when I want to feel like I’m in on the current trends, it can be a challenge – there just aren’t always that many available. But right now? Fun flats are having a moment, and I’m here for it! It’s nice to be able to join in on a style trend every once in a while, and to feel included. Now I just need to figure out which of these pairs I want to buy!

Raffia Flats // White Studded Flats // Black Studded Flats

Tan Mesh Flats // Crystal Flats // Black Embellished Flats // Woven Flats

Embellished Mesh Flats // Black Mesh Flats // White Embellished Flats // Tan Crystal Flats

Mesh flats keep popping up everywhere right now! At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about them, but I think I’m into it. If you’re not sure how you feel about this trend either, this version from Madewell is a great way to dip your toe in (pun intended), because they’re the most simple version. This black mesh pair is also a great simple option, with a buckle on top instead of an elastic strap. For something a little more fun, you can get a pair with crystal embellishments on them. This pair has a cute bow and slightly more square toe, and this one has the same bow but a more rounded toe. This black mesh pair with crystal embellishments has no buckle or strap on top – they’re the closest to the traditional “ballet flat” shape, while this pair has both crystal embellishments and a buckle on top, too.

There are so many cute studded or crystal embellished flats right now, too. I love the contrast of the silver studs against the white leather on this pair. This black pair has a Mary Jane-like thin strap at the top, plus all over studs with crystals in them that really pop. This white pair has a slightly thicker strap and gold-toned studs with crystals in them, which creates such a pretty overall mix of tones.

And for spring and summer, I love the raffia and woven versions of flats that I’m seeing! This woven version has a closed toe and looks like a slightly more summer-y version of a regular flat – I feel like it’s a more timeless take on the trend! This pair, though, seems like the raffia version of the mesh ones, with an open weave all over and the elastic strap on top. Both are very cute options!
