Timeless Vitamin C Serum Review

Over and over, we hear that Vitamin C is one of the most important things to add to your skincare routine – especially when you’re in your 30s! – to help brighten and even skin tone, but it’s also the one I have struggled the most to find for my skincare needs! But I’ve been using the Timeless Skin Care Vitamin C and E Ferulic Acid Serum since early this year now, and I’ve been really impressed.

Vitamin C is tricky for me for a few reasons. The most traditional form of Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is incredibly light and air sensitive, so anything that’s in a dropper-like dispenser is likely to oxidize (go bad) quickly. It can also be irritating to the skin, and a lot of formulations add too many moisturizing ingredients that my skin just doesn’t need. And some of the most effective, tried-and-true serums are incredibly expensive.

All of this is to say that I was very intrigued when a dermatologist I follow on TikTok mentioned Timeless Vitamin C serum, and said that it was sold at Target, of all places! I went online to check it out and was intrigued. It has the standard L-ascorbic acid and ferulic acid, it’s packaged in a pump rather than a dropper, it doesn’t stain my fingers orange, and is a water-based serum, which means it applies well for me with my other skincare.

I decided to try it out, and I’ve been using it for a few months now with great results! The packaging says you can either use it at morning or at night – I do it at night, because I use a benzoyl peroxide gel in the morning, and using that with Vitamin C can reduce the efficacy of both. Because I also use tretinoin at night, I started out slowly – starting with Vitamin C every other night at first, then working my way up to nightly to minimize any potential irritation. I was also on the lookout for any new breakouts, because this formulation of Vitamin C can sometimes clog pores, but I haven’t found this to irritate my acne-prone skin at all.

It does have the typical “hot dog water” smell that is so prevalent with Vitamin C products! I find that it goes away quickly, but it’s something to be aware of. The product comes in two sizes – 1 oz and 4 oz. I accidentally bought the larger size, but I’ll be going with the 1 oz when I repurchase. Vitamin C tends to oxidize (go bad and turn orange) within 6 months or so, and I think I’m going to end up throwing away some of the larger size because it’ll go bad before I get to use it. I bought the 20% formulation of the product, because I’ve been using some type of Vitamin C for years now, but if you’re new to it, Timeless offers a 10% version as well. Either one would be a great option for adding a Vitamin C serum to your routine!

Bonus! As part of Target’s Circle Week deals, the Timeless Skin Care Vitamin C and E Ferulic Acid Serum is 20% off. You just need to make sure you have a (free) account and are signed in online, and the offer will automatically apply in your cart.
