Summer Bucket List

For a few years now – or at least for a few seasons over the last year or two – I’ve written “bucket lists” of things I wanted to do during that season… and I’m pretty sure there’s not a single list that I fully completed. So this time, I want to write a realistic bucket list – a list of things that I look forward to every summer, that make the season just a little bit sweeter. So here’s my realistic summer bucket list for this year.

Go Out For Ice Cream

I love ice cream year round, but there’s something about going out and getting a scoop or two on a hot summer day that just hits differently. Ice cream at the end of a summer day when the sun is setting and things are cooling off just enough… it’s perfection. Or taking a break from the heat of mid-day to cool down! Either way, it’s just the best summer treat and I can’t wait.

Do Lots Of Patio Reading

Obviously, I’ve already started doing this one, but it really is one of the things that I look forward to most! There’s something just so peaceful and calming about taking my book and my headphones outside, planting myself under the patio umbrella, and spending a few hours completely losing myself in a book. It’s one of those things that makes me feel like summer days are endless, and you can just sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself.

Go To The Zoo

I love the zoo and make sure to go at least once every year! It’s just a great way to spend a day – roaming and looking at the animals, stopping for a snack where you can eat while looking at the giraffes, and, of course, stopping for Dippin’ Dots, too! Making it into an experience and spending a few hours is my favorite way to do it.

Host A Few Patio Bonfires

I love summer patio bonfires! You don’t need to crowd too close to the fire to stay warm, and it’s just the perfect way to chill and catch up with friends without having to do anything that involves too much planning. Plus, mountain pies (kind of like pizza sandwiches that you cook in “pie irons” in the fire) really hit the spot for summer dinner!

Try A New Restaurant Or Two

When the weather is colder, going out to eat is just more of an ordeal for me – making sure I’ll be warm enough on the walk from car to restaurant, making sure the sidewalks aren’t covered in snow, making sure I won’t get sick from people spreading germs. But summer makes all of that easier, PLUS it means patio dining season is here, too. So I’d like to check out a new-to-me restaurant or two while the weather cooperates! I really do love going out to eat, the last few years have just made it tricky.

Outdoor Movie Nights With The Projector

Getting a projector and screen a few summers ago was such a fun idea! I love movie nights in general, but having them outside in the backyard / on the patio just feels so fancy! It kind of feels like my own private drive-in movie, which is so cool. I love having a few friends over and picking a movie to put on and watch – sometimes we go with a new release, and sometimes an old classic rom-com.

Do you have anything you’re looking forward to doing in the summer? Let me know!
