Friday Favorites

This has been one of those weeks where it just feels long and busy. Work has been getting busy – we have a big event at the end of September, which is quickly approaching, and lots to do to get things ready. I’m also getting that end-of-summer feeling, where I don’t want it to end and want to try to enjoy every single second possible so I can store up the feeling of warmth for the cooler temperatures. I know this is not how it works! But I can’t help but hope for it, anyway. Tonight a few friends are coming over for a patio bonfire (assuming the rain holds off…) and it’ll be a nice way to keep summer going a little bit longer.

On to the week’s favorites!

The Roll Up on Substack

I started a Substack! For now, I’m going to be posting once a week on Saturday mornings. Nothing will change here on the blog, content-wise, but writing on Substack gives me the chance to be a little more laid-back and conversational, and talk about things that aren’t necessarily blog post-worthy, but that I still want to share. I’d love for you to subscribe!

After hearing about Stanley water bottles over and over, there’s a new hit water bottle that has entered the chat according to The New York Times – the Owala. I actually have had one for over a year now, because I love the built-in straw and the “Free Sip” function that they’ve built in to the cup. I guess I’m cool again with my water bottle of choice!

J.Crew End-of-Summer Sale

J.Crew has just added a ton of items to their end-of-summer sale, with up to 50% off. I really love this dress with a smocked top and tie straps, and this loose, breezy dress is another great option. And the lace trim of this otherwise simple tee is such a fun detail!

Olympic Village Inspired Chocolate Muffin Recipe

Have you seen the Olympians raving about the chocolate muffins in the dining hall of the Olympic Village? I want to try one so badly – they look like a cross between a muffin and a cake, and that sounds absolutely perfect to me. This is supposed to be a very close copycat recipe – apparently, you need the vegetable oil to keep it moist! I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to make them, but it’s on the list.

Tweed Tee

Since dresses make up the majority of my wardrobe, I’m always looking for things that I can layer over dresses to make it look like a new outfit. This tweed tee looks like something that might be absolutely perfect for that! It’s just cropped enough that I think it could look great layered over a black dress. I might have to try it out!
