I’ve been doing month gratitude list posts for a while now, and I’ve loved writing them – they force me to take a moment to reflect on my life and everything that’s been going on. It really has helped me to appreciate the small moments! And they’re not going away, but I’m going to rename these posts – calling them each month’s “glimmers.” I’ve been seeing the term online for a while now, and I like what it connotes – the small moments of everyday joy. That’s basically what I was writing in my gratitude list posts, anyway, so there’s no real change in content, just a change in name! So with that being said, here are the things that have brought me joy over the last month.

Cream Cheese Brioche + Salted Butter

I picked up the Whole Foods cream cheese brioche loaf on a whim during a rare in-person grocery trip recently, and I can’t stop snacking on it – it’s so good! I also picked up a fancy butter with flakes of sea salt, and the mix of slightly sweet bread with the slightly salty butter is just perfection. Every bite is a little bit of joy in my mouth.

Hummingbirds in the Yard

I am very much not a bird person, even though I’ve somehow had a bird decide to perch on my head while I’m sitting out on my patio not once but twice now! Hummingbirds, though, are a different story for me – they’re so small and just seem kind of magical, for some reason. We have a hummingbird feeder in the backyard, and we’ve had so many hummingbird visits lately! It makes me so happy.

Bergman Brothers Box Set

I finally unboxed and displayed my Bergman Brothers series special edition boxed set last week! The way the sprayed edges come together to make the infamous A-frame from the books is just so clever. This set of the books is beautiful, and the stories themselves are beautiful depictions of disability in romance, and both things make me so happy.

Disabled Representation in #Rushtok

And more disability romance that’s bringing me joy! My Tiktok is filled with videos of sorority rush at Alabama right now, just like it was last year this time. But this year, I’m seeing multiple women with disabilities rushing and showing off their OOTDs. It’s really, really cool to see.

An Amazing Audiobook

I was looking for a new audiobook earlier this week, and decided to start The Age of Magical Overthinking because it was available to me on Everand. I hadn’t heard much about it, but wow, it was incredible! Such a fascinating and well-researched yet approachable take on human psychology and the many biases we deal with on a daily basis. It was truly a delight to listen to! Highly recommend.
