Rare Beauty has become one of my go-to brands for makeup recently – I find that I’m continually impressed by the products that they are releasing! I love that they make great quality and easy to apply products, which is exactly what I’m always looking for. I thought I’d share short reviews of some of my Rare Beauty favorites.
Before I go into the actual products, I want to talk about my very favorite thing about Rare Beauty – the packaging! Selena has talked about how she has Lupus, and how that can, at times, make it difficult for her to open things, like a bottle of water or a lip gloss. So when she was working on the design of her products, she made sure that all of the packaging would be something that she herself could open. While I don’t have Lupus, my muscles are super weak, so I have lots of problems being able to open things too. I’ve been able to open and use every single Rare Beauty products I’ve tried independently! I know this sounds like a small insignificant, thing, but imagine having to ask someone for help every time you wanted to apply lip gloss. It adds up! So knowing that I can use all of these products on my own definitely makes me more willing to try new Rare Beauty products when they come out.
And I have tried quite a few by this point! So here are my favorite Rare Beauty products that I’ve used.
Soft Pinch Liquid Blush
I wrote a post about my favorite liquid blushes a bit ago, and I hadn’t tried this one yet – I had heard that it was hard to blend, and it made me hesitant to try. I wish that I hadn’t waited so long! This is a great liquid blush. A little goes a very, very long way, though, so be warned! I typically wipe off the excess product on the side of the container, put two tiny dots on each cheek, and then blend a lot. There might be a point where you’re scared that you’re going to look like a clown, but just trust the process and keep blending! It does end up looking like a really nicely blended blush, and it lasts all day. My go-to shade is “Worth.”
Always an Optimist Soft Radiance Setting Powder
I have really oily skin, but I’m also not the hugest setting powder user, which I realize sounds kind of counterintuitive. It’s just that for day to day wear, I like to go with as few steps as possible. But there are days when I really want my makeup to last, and on those days I like to go for a light setting powder to make sure my foundation stays in place all day. I love that the soft radiance powder is a nice, soft natural finish, rather than overly matte. It’s super soft and fine, too, and doesn’t accentuate any pores or texture on my skin. I use the lightest shade, which is almost pinkish. I was worried it would bring out the redness already in my face, but it doesn’t at all!
True to Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder
Pressed powder is something that I use pretty frequently, again because of my oily skin. I love having something I can use on-the-go to take away shine and add a little bit of coverage that may have worn off. This one is so nice – I use this puff from Rare Beauty to apply, which picks up an impressive amount of product! I then just press it on my face wherever I want to take away shine. It applies so nicely, too – it blends in to my skin like a dream, and again, looks natural rather than overly matte. Plus I love how compact it is, which means it fits in almost any bag. I take this with me basically wherever I go.
Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil
If I had to pick, I think I’d say that this was my favorite Rare Beauty product. Since I keep my typical makeup look pretty simple, I love being able to switch it up at least a little bit with my lip products! I tend to go for something that’s a little more relaxed than a matte lipstick that needs to be applied with precision, and this lip oil is absolutely perfect for that. You just swipe it on, and it has a nice shine at first, but when it dries down it leaves a nice stain on your lips that stays! It’s not something that’s going to last perfectly through a greasy meal, but if you want a nice stain that will tint your lips for a normal day, this is the perfect product. Plus, since it’s an oil, it moisturizes your lips while staining them. It feels nice and shiny without being sticky.
