Accidentally Adaptive: Luna Daily Everywhere Spray-to-Wipe

I’m always kind of hesitant to talk about anything showering-related on here, because there’s so much judgement around cleanliness! But the reality is that for me, and for many other disabled people, showering is exhausting! I don’t shower every single day. But it’s still important to me to look and feel fresh. And this Luna Daily Everywhere Spray-to-Wipe is the perfect thing to help me.

Showering as exhausting is probably one of those things that you can’t really fully understand until you experience it yourself. When I’m sitting in my chair, I have it customized so that it supports me in just the right way that I need. But in my shower chair, those supports just don’t exist. So when you add that to having to get out of and back into my chair, plus the hot water and the steam and having someone else lift and move your body parts to clean them… it’s just all a lot. And that’s just the actual showering part, which doesn’t include any of the getting ready after the shower. This might all sound silly to any of you who don’t have this struggle, I honestly don’t know – but I do know that this is something that other disabled people have talked about, and I’m not alone.

When I’m traveling, it’s even harder. My normal shower chair is not at all portable, so I have to use one that is portable… but is even less supportive. There’s also no way of knowing if the shower setup where I’m staying will actually work for me. Airbnbs and VRBOs almost never have roll-in showers, and even hotel rooms that I specifically book for the roll-in shower sometimes have weird configurations. Being outside of my normal routine and setup is also just tiring in and of itself, so adding a shower is just adding another layer of complication.

Obviously, I still like to be clean and feel good, even if I’m not taking a full shower. For my hair, I have Drybar, and for my body, I usually go with a combination of wipes / washcloths. Wet washcloths are a little bit messier, but I don’t love the residue / feeling that wipes leave on my skin after using them. Which is why, as I was doing my last minute browsing of Sephora online before my recent trip, I was so intrigued by the Luna Daily Everywhere Spray-to Wipe. It’s kind of like a DIY version of a wipe – you spray it on something, like a tissue or a cotton round, and then use that to cleanse. It’s safe to use all over your body, and they even make an unscented version for sensitive skin.

I love it so much – I used it a lot on my trip, and have even started using it at home on my non-shower days, too! I love it because it doesn’t leave that residue that a wipe does, and it does actually leave my feeling cleaner and fresher. I also love that I know I can use it all over my body, too, and the sensitive skin version that I bought hasn’t irritated me at all. I know it’ll get even more use next summer, when I’m a little sweatier after sitting in my wheelchair all day long. I actually picked up the mini size to keep on me at all times, too. It’s so convenient to be able to spray on whatever is at hand (tissue, toilet paper) when you’re out, and to not have to worry about it drying out like wipes do. It’s another great example of a product that is useful for so many people, and it just has an extra added benefit for disabled people like me.
