Friday Favorites

I have spent most of this week recovering from how busy September was, so it’s been extremely low-key. I feel like after a busy few weeks in a row, the exhaustion always hits even harder, like it all comes crashing down on me at once! Hopefully (fingers crossed) October should be a bit calmer, and I can slow down and catch up on rest.

Here are my favorites from this week!

Connecting With Friends

I really appreciated this article from The Atlantic about loneliness and friendships right now, and how the struggle isn’t necessarily that we don’t have friends, but that we don’t have free time to actually see them. I relate with this a lot! I have found I need to be really intentional about making time to see my friends – not just sending a text saying, “We should get together!” But actually suggesting a time and place that takes everyone’s lives into account.

J.Crew Fall Event

J.Crew has 40% off most of their site right now, with no code needed. I especially love this cozy-looking sweater, this oversized sweater, and this leather mini backpack (the fashion of my youth really is back!).

Kesha on Her Future

This is such an insightful, informative interview with Kesha about her past struggles within the music industry, and what she hopes for the future to look like. I was only tangentially aware of her legal struggles, but it’s so empowering how she’s come out of them so much stronger. I also really love how she wants to be a mentor and a friendly voice for new artists who are suddenly thrust into fame – it’s so needed, and so important.

This Year’s Best Horror Novels

I am not really a huge horror reader, but I do love to read seasonally, so I’d like to read a spooky book or two this month! I’m going to pick one or two off this list of New York Magazine’s best horror books so far this year – maybe the one about vampires and friendship, or maybe the new Stephen Graham Jones book, which I’ve heard great things about!
