November 2024 Glimmers

This has definitely been a time where I need all the glimmers I can get. Right now, I’m really holding on tightly to all the small moments of joy that I can find – here’s what has been getting me through.

Kamala Harris Rally

Obviously, the election did not go the way that I hoped it would. And I’m still sad, and mad, and hurt, and upset – but I’m also holding on to the memory of being at her rally the night before the election. The energy was truly electric – thousands of people were all so excited to be there to cheer her on. So I’m trying to keep that hope and joy alive.

My Community

The best thing that has come out of this month has been all of the messages and comments I’ve gotten, both from friends and family and from people online, telling me that they see me, they hear me, and they still want to fight for and support me. Honestly, it’s meant so much, it’s hard to even put into words. I’m feeling incredibly grateful for my community.

Comfort TV Rewatches

There’s something so nice about re-watching an old favorite show, and knowing exactly what will happen but just enjoying the ride anyway. First I re-watched all of Fringe, and now I’m on to The West Wing. Maybe it’s a bit odd to choose a political show, but it feels so idealistic and I’d like to lean into that feeling.

Retail Therapy

I’ve seen it called retail therapy, I’ve seen it called doom spending… call it what you will, I’ve been indulging in a little treat or two. Nothing too big! But a dress or two and a travel perfume have brought me joy, and I don’t feel bad about it. I am embracing joy in any and all forms right now!

All the Romcoms

I have also been reading things that make me happy, which right now is romcoms, because I want the guarantee of a happily ever after at the end. I just started Hardly Strangers, which is a novella and just over 100 pages – sounds like the perfect pick-me-up.
