I’m writing this post a bit early this month, because tomorrow’s post will be my last until the new year! With Christmas coming up so soon, I’m (finally) starting to get into the holiday spirit, and feel all warm and bright and grateful. Here are all the things that have been little glimmers in a (literally) dark month!

Time Off
I have really been teetering on the edge of burnout lately, to a pretty severe degree. I have been getting through by counting down the days until my winter break! I’m taking time off from my daytime job and here, which I haven’t really done in quite a while, and I think it will be very good for me. I need to be able to just sit and read and think and not worry about a deadline or the next post I need to get up. It’ll help me come back recharged in 2025.
Time with Friends
Sometimes, I feel so worn out by the weeks that making plans on the weekends feels more stressful than stress relieving, and I get lazy about doing it. But then when I actually do make plans, I remember that it’s worth it! That spending time with friends or going out to an event is actually fun, and I feel better and happier and lighter afterward, even if I was stressed about the plans before they happen. I just need to keep reminding myself!
Holiday Movies
I have been leaning into the holiday movies this year, and watching them on the weekends with a holiday candle lit and a fire going in my little gas fireplace. Some of the movies are great – I watch The Holiday every year without fail – and some are more of the Hallmark level where they’re fun as long as you don’t think hard about the plot. But regardless, they still put me in a lovely, holiday mood.
My Disabilitree
I just love glancing over at my tree and seeing all the disabled ornaments hanging there! It’s such a small thing, but really cool that I have enough disabled representation in ornaments to fill out a decorated tree. I’m going to try to look for one or two more new ones this year to sloooowly keep building up my collection!
Wicked in the Theater
I know – when will I stop talking about Wicked?! Soon, I promise. But seeing it in the theaters did bring me so much joy. It was my first time seeing the movie since 2021, and so I made an experience out of it – got the tickets way in advance and got dressed up. It’s a show that I’ve loved for so long, and seeing it on the big screen was incredible. It didn’t hurt that the movie was everything I could’ve hoped for, too!
