I’m trying out something a little different here for now. Since I’ve been writing weekly posts on Substack that publish on Sundays (make sure you’re signed up here!), I’m going to take Mondays off from blog posts. It was getting to be a lot for me to add Substack posting on to five days of posting here, and I’ve really been enjoying the chance to write there and share some more personal and in-depth posts. I hope you’ll join me over there if you haven’t already!
Other than that, it was a pretty standard week for me around here. I’m so happy that January is over, and hoping that February is a little bit of a fresh start for me. I have an incredibly low-key weekend planned – going to try to catch up on one or two of the Oscar nominations for best picture, so that I can make sure I’ve seen them all before the show next month! That’s about as exciting as my plans will get, and I’m not upset about it.
On to the favorites!

Audiobook Reading Challenge
Libro.fm. is hosting an audiobook reading challenge! If you read 10+ hours of audiobooks between February 5-14 (on any platform!), you can get a free credit for a book through Libro.fm. It’s all on the honor system – enter your hours here – and you don’t have to join their monthly subscription to redeem. I love that Libro.fm lets you support a local bookstore of your choice with your audiobook purchases – it’s a way for me to read accessibly and still support a shop I love.
Little Black Dress
This black dress from J.Crew is currently on sale, and such a good basic to add to your closet. I love the smocked waist – keeps it from looking too loose and blousey – and the midi length keeps it versatile for pretty much any season or occasion. It’s a classic!
The Cut on Caregiving
In January, The Cut did a series on caregiving – the costs (both time and financial), how it can be isolating and stressful, but how it can bring people together, too. I especially loved the article where different people shared their own personal caregiving stories. It can be hard for people to talk about, and it’s something that doesn’t get a lot of media attention, but it’s something that millions of people do worldwide. It’s so important that we do think about and discuss it.
Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young
This book!! I finished it yesterday and it currently has my whole heart. Out on a Limb is a romance between two disabled characters, where one of the characters shares the same disability as the author. It’s so real, and funny, and sweet, all at the same time – and the disability aspects are so clearly authentic. Even though I have a different disability than Hannah, I couldn’t stop nodding along – our disabilities may be different, but our experiences navigating the world (and navigating our own emotions) are so similar. I want everyone to read this!
