This week was tough. We had to say goodbye to our cat, Nala – she’s had kidney disease for over a year now, but things had been getting worse and worse over the last few months, and when she basically stopped eating, we knew it was time. Just like we did with Simba, we found a vet service that comes to the house, so you can say goodbye and have your final minutes in a space that’s familiar and comfortable. It’s still hard, but it makes it a bit easier.
The rest of the week I’ve been trying to distract myself with work, books, and TV. I started watching Apple Cider Vinegar, a fictionalized take on the “wellness” influencer Belle Gibson who lied about having cancer. I didn’t really follow the story when it was happening, but it is wild to watch it all play out. I think I’ll watch another movie or two this weekend from the Oscar Best Picture list, and this Sunday is my mom’s birthday, but we’re just going to have a low-key celebration at home.
On to this week’s favorites.

Hill House Home Spring Collection
Hill House dropped their spring collection this week, and it’s a good one. I especially like this new shape in black – the cutouts are so fun and different. I love this brown print in the maxi dress length – it’s a bit more sophisticated. And this green shadow stripe in a shorter length with sleeves just looks so perfect for spring and summer.
What the Assault on Public Education Means for Kids with Disabilities
The changes being floated about the Department of Education and the way federal funding is permitted to be used by the states (block grants) is really sobering and terrifying for students with disabilities. Private schools are largely exempt from the accessibility regulations that public schools have to follow, so the changes being floated are pretty chilling for disabled kids. This article is a really good explainer of the situation.
Margaux Archive Sale
I got my first pair of Margaux flats during their Black Friday sale, and I absolutely love them – I was actually able to order size 3.5, which means they actually fit perfectly, which is so rare. They’re currently having their Archive Sale (ending on Monday), with some really amazing deals. These cerulean flats are actually the pair I own, and are such a steal! I’m eying these burgundy suede ones for myself.
How Not to Be Cynical About Valentine’s Day (gift article)
I really loved this reminder that Valentine’s Day doesn’t only have to be about romantic love. I think it’s important to celebrate all kinds of love – friends, family, even self-love – both in February and year-round.
