What a week I’ve had! It started off on a very high note with a book talk and signing by RF Kuang on Monday night, and then immediately hit a low the very next day when a storm with super high, near-tornado speed winds hit Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon. I was without power for about 17 hours, and when you rely on a lot of medical equipment in your day-to-day life, that makes power outages super stressful! I’m going to talk more about that in my Substack this week, so make sure you’re subscribed if you’re interested, but the rest of the week has been a blur as I’ve been recovering. So this week’s favorites is a little bit shorter than usual. Fingers crossed, things will be closer to normal for me next week!

Pittsburgh Storm Resources
I want to start by sharing this post with some resources for anyone who is still dealing with storm fallout. The power company was predicting it could be five to seven days for a full restoration of power, so it’s important to know what resources are out there. I feel really lucky to have gotten power as (relatively) early as we did, even though the time without it was so incredibly tough.
J. Crew New Arrivals
I had rounded some of these up for my Wednesday Wishlist post that never happened, so I wanted to share them today instead! J. Crew has some very cute new arrivals – I especially love this mini straw bucket bag, this pretty green maxi, this crinkle midi, and this bandana print dress.
How One Woman Lost $75,000 to an MLM
Honestly, I didn’t know Mary Kay was still around – it’s a brand that I’ve heard of for years and years, but kind of thought it had died out. Reading this article about how it’s still operating as a predatory MLM, with such a strong push for people to grow their downline and meet their sales quotas no matter the personal cost, is so disappointing.
Mother’s Day Gifts from Lake
Mother’s Day is coming up quickly! I shared my gift guide last week, and Lake has put together a curated list of their own with some cozy favorites. Monday is the last day to order from them to make sure things arrive in time, so don’t wait too long!
