I finally broke my reading slump this week – I finished two perfect books for summer this week after really struggling to be in the mood to read for a while. I’m so happy to be back! Otherwise, this week has been pretty low key – we’ve had some beautiful days, so being able to read on the patio definitely helps me get back into my normal reading groove. Hoping to have some more dedicated reading time over the weekend, too! On to this week’s favorites.

One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune

This was one of the books I started and finished this week! If Carley writes a book, I will read it – I just love how she writes characters and settings that make me feel like I’m living in the book. One Golden Summer is kind of a follow up to her first book, Every Summer After, but can also be read as a standalone – it follows Charlie, the older brother from the first book. It’s a great summer read, bonus points if you can find a body of water to read it by.

Medicaid Cuts Threatened

I shared in this Substack post why Medicaid is so important to me – it literally keeps me living, and keeps my life worth living. Congress is working on a budget that would mean major cuts to Medicaid funding. I’d really appreciate if you went here and told your representatives that you don’t want Medicaid funding to be cut.

Diane von Furstenburg is well known as the designer of the iconic wrap dress silhouette, but this piece was a really beautiful look into her personal life. It’s a first-person account of one of her relationships – apparently, one of them that was much-questioned – and it’s just so well written, revealing just enough but not too much.
