Friday Favorites

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m struggling to wrap my mind around the fact that it’s already August! I think having one trip in June and another in July made the months feel kind of compressed, but I’m not ready for summer to be over yet. I’m hoping for August to feel long, and slow, and lazy, and languishing… hoping it feels like summer really keeps dragging on and on.

While I keep my fingers crossed for a slow end to summer, here are the things from this past week that I’ve been loving.

Jessica Slice Upends Assumptions About Disability and Motherhood

I still need to read Jessica Slice’s new book Unfit Parent, but I think this interview she did with Vogue is a great read even if you haven’t read it. It’s so great to see disability issues covered so plainly on such a big platform – disability and parenting, and even how disability can affect something like the press launch around a new book. Going to be adding this to my TBR for next month.

Swingy Collared Dress

I really love the style of this dress – so loose and swingy, and yet somewhat structured with the collar and the polo-style buttons down the front. It’s a great combination and seems like it would layer super well and make a great basic!

Here are the 13 books that made the Booker Prize longlist

I decided I want to try to read all 13 books that made the Booker Prize longlist this year. We’ll see how it goes – I definitely will DNF a book if I’m not feeling it – but I’d like to give it a try! I already read Audition, so now I have to pick what my second book will be.

Rare Beauty Perfume

I can’t wait to try this perfume that Rare Beauty is releasing – this video has a great explanation of how inclusive they were in their design process! I really appreciate the intentional approach they’re taking in making their products more accessible, and I’m definitely going to have to try this one out myself.
