As I’ve gotten more into fragrances over the last few years, I’ve also started swapping them out seasonally a bit. Rather than having on or two scents I wear all the time, I have perfumes with different notes that feel right for different times of the year – lighter, more floral scents in spring and summer, and deeper, more woodsy scents for fall and winter. Since we’re moving into fall now, I thought I’d share the fragrances in my current rotation.

Phlur Cherry Stem

I’m still very into the cherry scents right now! Cherry Stem is pretty cherry forward – you can smell the fruitiness of the cherry right off the bat. But is has deeper undertones, too – plum nectar and ebony woods – that made this a sexier take on cherry. The sweetness is there, but it’s not over the top, and dries down to something much more subtle.

Rare Beauty

Rare Beauty’s fragrance is such a warm, comforting, gourmand scent! It has a really nice vanilla base, with some hints of caramel too, and sandalwood laced underneath. It’s a really great universal scent – it’s designed to be layered with other fragrances, and I can see how that would work really nicely. And of course, I love how thoughtfully the bottle was designed, so that it’s super easy to spray even with limited strength or mobility.

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Over Red

I love the mix of scents in YSL’s Black Opium Over Red. It’s a take on YSL’s Black Opium fragrance, but with the addition of coffee and cherry notes. It’s a more subtle cherry, I think – it’s there, but more in the background (as is the coffee). It has a nice vanilla-forward dry down, with a hint of cherry to keep you guessing. It has really nice staying power, and is gourmand but also warm and cozy.

Le Labo Santal 33

Le Labo’s Santal 33 had a real popular phase, and I think it’s a bit less ubiquitous now but I’m still a huge fan. It’s super woody and a little bit spicy… it’s not actually smoky, but it reminds me a little bit of being outside by a fire in the crisp air. It’s kind of addicting, and somehow comforting at the same time, too.

Burberry Goddess

Burberry Goddess is a grown up warm vanilla sugar-like scent to me, and I love that about it. This scent has three different vanilla notes, so I’m not kidding that it’s a very vanilla, very gourmand, very comforting scent. But it also does have a lavender note to it, which adds the perfect light and floral touch. It’s such a universal scent.

Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit

Jo Malone’s Ginger Biscuit is a seasonal one, but it’s such a great gourmand scent for the fall and holidays! It really does live up to its name – it’s got notes of ginger and cinnamon, and smells like you have ginger cookies baking in the oven. There’s some tonka bean and vanilla to add a little sweetness, too.

Hotel Lobby New York

Hotel Lobby’s New York fragrance is like their New York candle, but elevated into fragrance form. It has notes of cedar, and amber, and bergamot… it’s somehow sophisticated and mysterious at the same time, and the perfect mix of sweet and deep. It’s so great for this time of year.
