October is flying by, it seems – we’re already halfway through the month! The colors are changing slowly this year, I haven’t seen many yet at all, but I’m noticing the early dark more than anything. It’s been tough to find my motivation this week, because when it’s 6:30 PM and basically pitch black outside, all I want to do is curl up in bed with a book. I’m trying to find the right balance between productivity and leaning into the rest – I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.
On to this week’s favorites.
Hill House Tartan Collection
Hill House released their tartan collection this week! I love that they’re out early, with plenty of time to wear during the upcoming holiday season. I love the colors of this one, the shorter length with longer sleeves of this one, and of course, you can’t go wrong with a classic Ellie.
Layoffs in the Department of Education
At the end of last week, the news came out that almost the entire group responsible for students with disabilities in the Department of Education had been quietly laid off. It’s just more and more devastating – but not surprising! – news at the federal level. If disabled students aren’t set up with the supports they need in the education system, it’s near-impossible for them to thrive after graduation. It’s just so demoralizing.
Red, White & Royal Wedding
We’re getting a sequel to Red, White & Royal Blue – Red, White & Royal Wedding! I really loved Red, White & Royal Blue – both the book and the movie – so I’m very excited about another movie in the universe. It’s exactly the kind of joy I’m looking for right now.
Brushed Cashmere Floral V-Neck
Okay, how cute is this brushed cashmere v-neck?? I love brushed cashmere pretty much always, but the pretty blue floral print takes this one to another level for me. I love when cashmere comes in a fun print rather than the standard neutral colors!
The Great Friendship Flattening
I thought this article from The Atlantic was a really interesting read – about how friendships change when they’re largely digital, about the comingling of friendships and social media, and how the two are becoming one and the same. There’s a lot to think about!
