September 2025 Favorites
I think you can start to tell from last month's favorites that I've slowly been getting into the fall mood. Here are five things I loved from last month.

September has seriously flown by - I can't believe October is almost here. It's been so warm the last week or so that it's really thrown me off and made me double-check the calendar once or twice!
It's been over a month since I've written one of these posts, but still - most (...all, I think) of these snapshots of my life were still taken at my…
Over the last few months, I've had to really prioritize my health. For me, right now, that's meant a lot of time at home. Extra time in my bed, hooked up to my feeding tube, and the rest of the day spent at home, trying to take it easy at not overexert myself. While this might sound ideal, after a while, I find myself starting to feel a little bit stir-crazy. It can feel monotonous to do essentially the same thing day after day!
This was a big week for me - I got a haircut for the first time in (I think!) a year and a half!
I've wanted to write this post for about two months now, but I figured it's better late than never! I like to do a little reading check in about halfway through the year (or a little bit more, in this case) and pick out my favorite books of the year so far. Out of all the books I read from January though August, these were the best to me.
We've had a stretch of really beautiful weather here in Pittsburgh this week, so I've been trying to get outside and read on the patio as much as I can while it's still warm out.
I had such a great reading month last month - not only did I read a lot, but I felt like it was a good mix of genres, and a lot of the books were just really good, too. It's hard to pick favorites, but Katabasis definitely lived up to my expectations, and What Hunger completely took me by surprise, in the best way! But those weren't the only books I liked - read on to see everything I read in August.
Have you seen those Instgram / TikTok posts going around that are a take on the TV show The Summer I Turned Pretty? People are using "The Summer I..." as the jumping off point to show some pictures of their summer, and renaming it themselves. Things like "The Summer I Stopped People Pleasing" or "The Summer I Chose Myself."
August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month, and every year I like to do at least one post to celebrate the occasion. This year, the month has kind of gotten away from me, but I didn't want to let it go unacknowledged. I always struggle when trying to figure out what to write for posts like these, because SMA is my whole life! It's hard to distill my experience into one (or even a few) posts on my blog. But then I realized... maybe that's exactly what I should write about - how broad the SMA experience is.
