I love getting dressed up for the holidays. I love sparkle in general, but during the holidays it feels like you're really given permission to go all out if you want, with sparkle and shine in every outfit if you want! So today I pulled together some holiday outfit inspiration that ranges from subtly sparkly to shimmer all the way.
Our tree is up and mostly decorated, it's mid-December, and I'm slowly but surely getting into the holiday mood! So I thought that I'd help myself feel a little more Christmas-y by sharing some of my favorite holiday traditions. Some of these are things I've been doing for years, and some are more recent, but they're all things that make it feel like the holiday season for me.
Dressing for the holidays is one of my favorite things to do - it's the excuse I never need to pull out all my velvet, sequins, and metallics! Not that I don't wear these things year-round, honestly, but there's something extra fun about wearing them to holiday parties and get togethers. So today I'm sharing some inspiration for holiday outfit dressing!
I still have a very low-key Thanksgiving celebration planned for this year, so the jury is out on whether I go for some sort of festive outfit, or just reach for some comfy lounge wear instead. But if you have plans of some sort - dressy or casual - I've pulled together a few different outfit ideas.
For the first year ever, my family decided to travel for Christmas, and we spent almost a week in Washington, DC at the most gorgeously decorated hotel I've ever been to!
I just wanted to pop in here quickly today and wish everyone who celebrates (an early) Merry Christmas. I know that the holidays might be looking a little bit different than you expected, but I hope that you're able to celebrate in some way with the people you love and care about.
I keep thinking back to how I felt this time last year - I was definitely a lot more isolated, but it also seemed like there was a glimmer of hope on the horizon. We'd just gotten the exciting news that the first vaccines were being authorized, and that the rollout was going to get started. It made it feel like it would only be one year of "missed" holidays.
It's that time of year again - holiday parties and gatherings are happening. I hope that you're all still gathering safely and carefully, but this year definitely looks different than last with the availability of vaccines and boosters. I won't lie - it's fun to have a reason to get all dressed up again! But since I know people have different comfort levels with getting together (I am still on the very, veeeeery cautious side), I pulled together three different kinds of outfits for holiday dressing inspiration.
I'm back with another gift guide - this week, focusing on all small businesses, not just Pittsburgh-based ones! I'm trying to share these early, because I know that small businesses will be the ones most affected by all of the shipping and supply delays. So I pulled together some great gifts from a variety of small businesses (some smaller than others).
Growing up, one of my favorite things about December was the Advent calendar that we got to open each day. Ours usually weren't fancy, but it was just the excitement of having something to look forward to each day that made it so much fun. Now that I'm older, I still love a good Advent calendar, but just a little bit more of an upscale version! I rounded up some fun options if you're looking for a way to relive those childhood memories, or to start a new tradition!
