Friday Favorites

This week was one of those weeks where each day felt incredibly long. I can't believe that the eclipse was this week - it feels much, much longer ago than that. We weren't quite in totality, but we were close, and it was still a super cool thing to experience - and I loved how everyone was talking about it and sharing their own experiences! Really cool and unifying. Anyway, on to this week's favorites.

Getting Into Audiobooks

For years and years, I insisted that I was just not an audiobook person. I had nothing against people who read audiobooks - all reading is reading! - but it just wasn't me. But over the last few years, slowly but surely, I've gotten into audiobooks. And now I'm at the point where I almost always have two books going at once - one ebook, and one audiobook. If you want to be more of an audiobook person, I though I'd share how I got here, and if you're already an audiobook reader, I thought I'd share how and where I listen.

Thursday Favorites

This week's favorites is going up a day early, because the Sephora spring sale starts tomorrow for VIB Rouge members, and I'm going to be sharing all my favorites. It has been a busy but fun week - on Tuesday night, I went to the White Whale Bookstore to celebrate the final of Chloe Liese's Bergman Brothers books being out in the world. It's such a gem of a bookstore, and was such a great night, even though we had to drive through a tornado watch on the way home (no tornadoes were sighted and we were very safe!). I had a busy work week, too, so I'm looking forward to a calmer weekend. On to the favorites!

March 2024 Favorites

March was kind of slow for me, life-wise - not necessarily bad, but not too many plans outside of work and regular things. Which means I may have picked up a few more things than usual - I kind of felt like I needed a little pick-me-up at times. But I rediscovered some old favorites, too! These are a few of my favorite things from the past month.

Recent Reads, March 2024

I had a really great month of reading! March was not super busy for me outside of work, so I had even more time than usual to read. Not only did I read a lot, but I really enjoyed everything I read, too. I also read a really nice mix of genres - some fantasy / scifi, some litfic, some rom coms, and a memoir. Here's what I read in March.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I don't have a whole lot to share this week - work has still been busy (but in a good way), which means it feels like the week has flown. We have a low-key Easter weekend planned - just a small dinner with family - so the weekend should give me some time to relax a bit! I honestly can't believe that this is the last full week of March, but I'm really beyond ready for April, and warmer weather, and spending so much time outside. It can't be too much longer now!

On Feeling Dysregulated

I was reading this article from The Cut recently, an essay on dysregulation and how the word is suddenly appearing everywhere. It goes on to describe that dysregulation, at it's core, seems to be about some sort of traumatic event happening (of any nature) that has you not feeling like yourself, and wanting to get back to feeling like you again. And for me, right now, that feels pretty appropriate.

Coffee Table Books

Because I live with my parents, not every room in the house is styled in my taste. There are little corners here and there, though, that I've slowly made into my own over the years. One of those places is the end table in the room I've made into my "office." I've made it into my own coffee table of sorts, with a nice stack of books, along with decor (and too many Hotel Lobby Candles). I added a new book to my coffee table stack over the weekend, so I thought it would be fun to share all my favorite coffee table books with you.

Life Lately, March 2024

This month's life lately is not the most exciting one that I've ever written. I spent a lot of this month at home, just leaning in to relaxing. We're in that weird time of year right now for me - it's still the tail end of winter, so even if we get a little bit of unexpected spring (like we did this past month!), I'm still more or less stuck at home most of the time. So I chose to spend the time doing my favorite things - a lot of reading (sometimes out on the patio, sometimes inside in my pajamas) and a lot of TV and movie watching (I watched all the Oscar best picture nominees and took zero pictures). I can't really spin my camera roll into anything life-changing, but sometimes that's just how life is, and since the point of these posts is to show the "behind-the-scenes" of my real life... that's what we have here. So here's the reality of what my life has looked like over the last month.

Friday Favorites

This week has actually kind of flown by, but in the good way - work has been just the right amount of busy, so the days went pretty quickly without being overly exhausting. It was still a typical week, nothing too exciting, but nice to feel like it didn't drag, and that the weekend is here. I've really been getting back into a great reading habit again, and have been starting and ending my days with a book, which always puts me in such a great mood. I also started a re-watch of The West Wing, one of my all-time favorite shows, so that probably helped, too. And as always, I'm happy Friday (and the weekend) are here now. On to the week's favorites!
