Recent Beauty Favorites

When it comes to makeup, I tend to play it relatively safe – when I find something that I like, I stick with it. But I’ve recently switched up a few things and found some new favorites, so I thought I’d share them today.

Lancome Foundation Stick

I never thought that I could wear a foundation stick – I have oily skin, and I always thought they’d be too creamy for me. But I’m constantly searching for the easiest, no-effort-required foundation, and sticks are so appealing in that way! I decided to give this one from Lancome a try, though, and I’m so impressed by it that it’s been my new go-to. I love how easy it is to use – I just put a few swipes all over my face, and then blend with my Artis brush (you could use your fingers, too). It’s really easy to make it as sheer or as full-coverage as you want, too. It’s a great, natural finish – not super matte but not dewy, either. It’s great!

Bite Beauty Upswing Mascara

I have used my favorite Marc Jacobs mascara for a few years now, but when I went to buy a new one before I left for vacation, I found out that it had been discontinued! The employee at Sephora offered me a few suggestions of good replacements, at this mascara from Bite was one of them. It’s not exactly the same as my old favorite, but it’s pretty good! It seems to make my lashes look both longer and more volumized, and most importantly, it goes on very black, which is what I love.

Caviar Stick Eye Shadow

I guess it’s clear by now that I’m no pro makeup artist; I tend to go for the products that are easiest to use but still look nice. This cream eye shadow stick is exactly that. It looks so much fancier than you’d think for a product that you just… swipe across your eyelid. I love metallic eye shadows, and this is nice and shimmery without being glittery. Plus, it has real staying power – it doesn’t budge all day. It’s super perfect for hot, humid summer days.

Afterglow Lip Balm

This is not technically a new product for me, but it’s newly rediscovered – I found them in my vanity drawer when I was packing for my trip. It is the perfect tinted lip balm – it’s just enough color to look like you have something on, but not so pigmented that you need a mirror to apply. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s just an all around great product.
