January was a very weird month. In many ways, it felt completely and totally never ending… and yet, I didn’t really do all that much at all. Between my ongoing health issues and the near-foot of snow and below freezing temperatures that came our way, I have very much been hanging out at home all month long. So this month’s favorites aren’t the most exciting, and have more repeats than the usual month! But these are the things that stuck out over the long, long month that was January.
The Easy Way Lipstick from Tilt Beauty
I’ve been a fan of Tilt’s tinted balms for a while now, but their new lipsticks?! They’re SO good. They have the same magnetic opening as the rest of their lip products, so I can use it totally independently. And the lipstick itself is great – super smooth and buttery to apply, and nice and moisturizing without being stick or too shiny. The pigmentation is great, and it wears really well, too. You can even pair with their new liners if you’re looking for a bit of a crisper look. I got shade Art Walk and love that you can tell it’s there, but it’s not too bold. Hotel Lobby Perfume in London
Hotel Lobby’s London perfume took me by surprise – I wasn’t really sure how the Earl Grey tea-forward candle would work as a perfume scent, but wow, it really does. There’s something about the blend of the tea, plus lavender, vanilla milk, honey, amber, and tonka bean… it all works together perfectly to create a fragrance that’s a little bit gourmand, and also infinitely wearable and cozy. I would recommend this to anyone; it’s really just a crowd-pleaser!
Dr. Idriss Lip Peel
With the freezing temperatures and biting wind chills, coupled with the super dry air indoors, my lips have been struggling. They are getting chapped so, so easily! This roll-on lip peel is honestly magic. You apply it, let it dry, put a balm of your choice over top, and voila. I like to put it on before bed and I wake up with soft, unchapped lips. I’ve recommended it to a few friends and they all agree, too – it’s a game changer!
Heated Rivalry
Speaking of game changers (IYKYK), I am still completely and totally obsessed with Heated Rivalry. With the show, with the books, with the TikTok edits, with the cast interviews, with convincing my friends to watch and read, with discussing at length with them after they’ve done so. I’m obsessed with it all! There’s something so, so comforting about Shane and Ilya’s love story, and I don’t see myself being freed from it’s grip anytime soon. Microwaveable Heated Pad
It has been so, so cold and I have really terrible circulation. This means that my feet are cold almost always, even when I’m sitting at home wrapped up in my blanket. So my solution is to heat up one of these microwaveable heating pads and lay it on top of my feet for a little added warmth! Of course, this probably won’t be super useful for you if you’re not in a wheelchair… but they are great for shoulders, necks, etc. no matter what!
Kerastase Glaze Drops
I have been struggling with my hair lately. For my whole life, it’s been thick, but extremely stick straight. Suddenly, it’s got a bit of texture and wave to it (but only certain sections, seemingly!), and the ends are drier than they used to be. In the past, putting oil anywhere near my hair would’ve been something I never would’ve done, but I was willing to try anything. These Glaze Drops seem to be working so far – my hair is just smoother and sleeker, and the ends definitely feel less dry. And as a bonus – this smells absolutely amazing. I only use a dropperful and my hair is long right now, so a little bit goes a long way!
