This was an exciting week for me – I had the very cool opportunity to testify in front of Senator Casey about caregiving across the lifespan and the importance of paying personal care assistants a living wage! It was really empowering to share my story and my experiences, and really inspiring to hear the experiences shared by the other witnesses, too. It was definitely a day to remember, and made me feel so hopeful for the future.

Hearing on Caregiving
If you’re interested in hearing more about the importance of caregiving and how to support caregivers and those they care for, you can watch a recording of the hearing I testified at! It’s not a short watch, but I think it’s a good mix of informative and a bit moving, too. I’m used to telling my story, but it was really powerful to hear the stories shared by the other caregivers.
Hill House Pre-Fall
Hill House released their pre-fall collection yesterday, and it’s good! I am using all my willpower to resist buying this tie-strap dress – the colors are so gorgeous and vibrant! I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to hold out. I also love this Ellie in the green “shadow stripe” fabric, and this shorter Lila in a pretty blue floral!
Romance Novels Are Literature
Yes, yes, yes to this article by Casey McQuiston! There’s nothing that makes me roll my eyes more than people who put down romance and romcoms and say they’re less worthy than other genres of books. Casey makes some incredibly compelling points about how romance books are actually some of the most vulnerable and honest books out there, and I completely agree. I love reading romance and have no plans to stop!
Real-Life Polly Pocket Compact
Okay, this is so cute and so fun – a real-life, life-sized Polly Pocket compact that you can rent on Airbnb! I am skeptical about staying the night there – the only place to sleep is in a tent that has no doors? – but renting it for the day for a fun party sounds much more fun! It would be great for young kids or anyone like me who grew up with Polly Pockets… though unfortunately, not me specifically, because it’s not accessible.
