Life Lately, April 2025

I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot recently, but this is not the most exciting monthly recap post I’ve ever written! It’s been a slower month around here, with lots of time spent at home. I am looking forward to things picking up a bit in the upcoming weeks/months, but honestly, it’s been nice – and needed! – to have some time at home to recoup some of my energy.

When I talk about much needed time to recoup some energy… this feels like a pretty good depiction of how I’ve been feeling. An at-home macchiato, a Starbucks macchiato, and a Starbucks cold brew… all accumulated over the course of one day. I’ve definitely been feeling more exhausted lately, and am trying to get a better handle on rest and sleep. But in the meantime… an extra coffee here or there definitely helps.

I did make it out to Drybar this month! It’s become my go-to when there’s some sort of scheduling snafu and my personal care attendant needs to call out, but I need clean hair. Knowing that they’re always there for an easy hair wash (without having to get out of my wheelchair!) and either a blowout or a French braid makes what can be a stressful time much less stressful.

We’ve had a few incredibly warm and beautiful days lately – I think it hit 80 degrees at least once! I have been sneaking away every possible minute to get in patio reading time. It is honestly one of my very favorite things to do, and helped me break out of a bit of a reading slump that I was in!

Lily has been enjoying the nicer weather, too. This is actually ideal for her – any hotter, and she starts to want to get back inside to the air conditioning. But right now, she loves to lay around outside, chase after birds (don’t worry, she’s leashed and can’t get to them!), and roll around in the grass. And I love to watch her!

Hotel Lobby generously sent me their new London candle and diffuser, and wow, it is such an incredible new scent. This is going to sound cliche, but I think it’s one that anyone would love – the lavender and earl grey work so well together. It’s definitely fitting for spring, and I’ve been burning it all the time! Even unlit, it’s been making the room smell so nice.

I’m really in my tinned fish era right now, so when I saw that Fishwife was doing a collaboration with Bon Iver, I knew that I had to try it. The packaging is so cute as always, and it’s super tasty too – perfectly smoky. The Bon Iver collaboration is sold out now, but their regular tinned salmon is still available (and delicious).

We had a really nice, low-key Easter spent at home – just me, my parents, and my sister. I still decided to be a little bit festive and dress up for the occasion, though! And then changed back into pajamas pretty quickly after, ha, but an attempt was made and a picture was taken!
